D1, D9 and the divisional charts explained
Learn how the Rashi and Navamsa charts relate, how to explore sixteen divisional charts, and why accurate birth time matters.

Start with the D1 Rashi chart
D1 is the main natal chart: it places the planets within the zodiac and, when birth time is known, the houses. Begin with the ascendant, Sun, Moon, their signs and their relationships. The North Indian and South Indian display options are two ways to present the same chart data; switching the drawing does not change the calculation.
Read D9 alongside D1
The Navamsa, or D9, divides each zodiac sign into nine parts. Within Vedic astrology it is used to explore planetary condition, partnership and dharma. It adds an interpretive layer to D1. A single D9 placement should not be read as a guaranteed relationship outcome or used to override the whole natal chart.
Explore the other divisions
The workspace offers D1, D2, D3, D4, D7, D9, D10, D12, D16, D20, D24, D27, D30, D40, D45 and D60. Each view names its traditional focus and provides the provider's available interpretation. Compare a division with D1 and read its cautions before drawing conclusions.
Why time accuracy matters
Divisional ascendants and fine subdivisions can change with small changes in birth time. More detail does not mean more certainty. If the time is unknown, the tool hides houses, ascendant and divisional interpretations instead of presenting an assumed time as exact. A rounded or estimated birth time also calls for caution, especially with finer divisions.
